My Dad

My Dad was a good teacher to me. He always wanted me to understand how everything worked and was made. Washers, pulleys, his money drop in television as a kid, motors, raising chickens. So so many more. I wish I would have listened better as a child. He has such knowlede.

My dad was such a hard worker, he still is, he can't seem to stop even though he will be 70 this year. What a good example I had to look up to all growing up. and still. My biggest memory with my dad was a paper route we did. He would drive while I folded the newspapers and put the newspapers into their slots. That memory still has a smell to this day, newspaper smell. But I am glad that I was able to work next to my dad, those things at the moment we would trade for anything. But when we look back, we wouldn't trade that for anything. I have another memory of him taking me to do his errands and me holding his finger while we crossed the road to get the mail.

My dad is so very talented. He knows how to double whistle. I don't even know how to whistle normal. That is just one of his talents.

What would I have done without my Dad. When I think of my dad, he reminds me of a strong bolder. He is so strong physically and spiritually. I love you Dad.

Babysitting

The past 2 days we were babysitting our neice and nephew. Josh and Aimee kept my boys busy, they loved it to death! After we dropped josh and aimee off. We all felt kind of glum. My boys were acting like it was the day after christmas. So, hats off to josh and aimee for being like christmas to us.

We played sardines both evenings. I started to get kind of cocky about how good I thought I was at it. Afterall it always takes all the kids forever to find jeff. At one point everyone found one of the kids right off, I thought to myself, They will never find me... I am a smart adult. When I went to hide, I was there for only 10 seconds before everyone found me right away. I guess I am not as good as I thought I was.

What does a cow have to do with this? Well, this cow lives in his own world, I do that also sometimes.

Sometimes I get so wrapped up in the world and pleasing people and thinking too much of myself. Those are the times that I struggle and become unhappy. SOMETIMES I remember the wise counsel President Hinkley's Father gave him, "Forget yourself, and get to work". This was while President Hinkley was a young man on his mission and was struggling and wanted to go home.

When I decide to follow these words, I find myself happy again... and everyone else around me as well.

Gina Forget yourself!

I love life when I am not selfish. I am selfish most of the time, but I am trying to be better. Poor Jeff is sometimes a victim of my blunders.

I need much improvement. Please be patient.

confessions

You may come to my home and think I am a hoarder. But I feel that I am not. I have found that I am addicted to the feeling I get when I get rid of things. I stood outside with the boys in the rain for an hour this morning trying to sell some things for a yard sale. I sold 8 large toys and a table. I earned 7 dollars!!!! in just one hour.

*This is just a silly thing about my boy ben. He loves to clean. He is always at my elbows trying to clean with me. This morning I cleaned the bathrooms, and because of my selfishness I put on a movie for ben so that he would not be at my elbows while I cleaned, so I could do it faster. Just now he was complaining that I got to do just fun things this morning and that my life is funner than his. I was very confused at that statement and so I asked him what I did that was fun. He said cleaning. He then said, "Cleaning is fun." What am I supposed to say to that?

tongue twister

I have decided that life is much more fulfilling when I do things that I don't want to do, that I should do. And life is not very fulfilling when I do things I want to do, that I shouldn't be doing.

Now maybe for some people this may not be true, and that is because they are doing the things that they should do and that is what they want to do.

Does this sound like I am trying to write a tongue twister?

What is fulfilling? When my children are happy, when I spend time talking with them, and when I accomplish something. Pardon me for making this sound like spending time with my children is not something I want to do. I do want to do it, but many times I can't bring myself to doing it, because the world is in the way... ie: facebook, tv, my blog?, and others.

Provident?!?!

Since last year we have planned on building raised beds in our yard to plant a garden. It always seemed like the next planting season was so far away. But it crept up on us, and we turned it into a stressful situation like we do with most things. We finally did it this past week and put in our garden. I can not say enough about how good it made me feel. I felt like I could have done pretty well in the 1700's after all! We really worked ourselves hard on Friday and Saturday morning to finish the job. Then I decided to clean up the garage a bit. And it seemed like more and more projects kept surfacing in a domino affect like manner. It boiled down to our water barrels and containers that have not been filled with water since we have moved. We finally brought ourselves to cleaning them out and filling them up. We looked like the crazy neighbors with all these brightly colored barrels on our front lawn. In Utah, people would not have thought very much about it, but here, everyone gave us the quizzical look of, "What on earth are you doing?"

Well, getting these 2 major projects done has left me with such a provident feeling, it is such a relief! I feel like I have not accomplished anything all winter, and have left it all up to one weekend. No wonder my fingernails were so healthy and long up until today.

The Curtain Picture

This is a picture of the curtain I made. I did not make the topper, I have had that there for a long time. I made the bottom. It isn't anything fancy. It is quite simple. From the picture it doesn't look like it matches, but in person it looks much better, at least for my taste.

Thank you Sharesa for the curtain info deal!
